Have Gig? Will travel!

This past Saturday our own F&L (Frederick & Loudoun) Connection quartet had a blast singing for the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) breakfast at their headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. Yes, that's right...Silver Spring - a bit of a hike for us, but...Have Gig? Will Travel!

Teaching Young Minds New Harmonies!

We had such a great time this past Saturday at the Loudoun County Public Schools A Cappella Workshop!

Our own director, John David Maybury, helped lead the day, while several chapter members and chapter quartet, LoCo 4, worked with the youth participants to make the day a great success.

Loudoun Now did a great write-up about the event.  Read all about it here: http://www.loudounnow.com/2016/01/09/hundreds-of-students-lend-voices-to-todays-a-cappella-performance/

Teaching the Old Dogs New Tricks

It's was a busy weekend for COD members!

Some of our newly elected board members, like VP of Marketing, Bob Thomas, and Treasurer, Mike Jacks, along with finance committee member, Dan Wesely, attended the Mid Atlantic District (MAD) Leadership Academy this weekend in Delaware to learn best practices for chapter marketing and financing.

Thanks to the Central Division of MAD for hosting and conducting the training so that we can better deliver quality music throughout Loudoun County and Northern Virginia!

Starting out the holiday season of song!

We had such a wonderful time strolling Downtown Leesburg while caroling this past Saturday. It was a great way to help support Small Business Saturday in the community.

Special thanks to Sola Palotta, the organizer for First Friday and the caroling for the Downtown Leesburg Business Association, for taking this great picture of us!

Big Things are Afoot!

This has been a busy month to be a barbershopper in our region.  We just barely finished competing (and winning second!!!) at our Division contest at the end of May.  Then this past weekend many of us, including the quartet, LoCo4 (pictured), went to "back to school" at Harmony College East held at Salisbury University, and we're now brimming with new knowledge and ideas to bring to rehearsal with us tomorrow night!

Reliving the day of LOVE

What a fantastic time we had delivering our Singing Valentines this year!  It's a truly fulfilling experience bringing smiles to so many faces.  We travelled the whole region spreading the Valentine's LOVE - from Bethesda, MD to Haymarket, VA to Charlestown, WV, and of course in our own backyard at the Village at Leesburg, who invited us back to stroll and sing as part of their annual Valentine's Day celebration.  And for those who we couldn't reach in person, we delivered a love song by phone!
